The Southern Garden Plan

Twelve weeks from now,
dinner comes out of your yard.

You start on the crops that come up fast where you live, so there is food and a win inside the first month. The calorie crops and the things you actually love go in underneath while you are eating. By week twelve, supper comes off a plate you grew. This page walks you through every week of it before you pay a dime.

If You Have Tried Before

You are not bad at this.
You had the wrong calendar.

Almost every gardening book, video and seed packet was written for somebody up north. It is good advice up there. Down here it tells you to plant in the wrong month, and the wrong month will take out a garden no matter how much you care about it. Here is how it actually works where you live.

We plant in the fall.

The easy stretch down here runs September into March, right about the time everybody up north is putting the garden to bed. So if you are reading this at the end of summer, you are early. You are not late.

Heat is our hard season, not cold.

Winter is not what gets you in Florida. Summer is. Once somebody finally tells you that, the whole year makes sense, and the hardest part of our calendar turns out to be the part you get to rest.

You never have to figure out a zone.

Florida gets planned in three regions, not by a hardiness number off the back of a packet. You give us your ZIP one time and your dates are set. You do not work that out, and you do not have to remember it.

You do not need a greener thumb. You need Florida's calendar, and that is the first thing we hand you.

Regions and planting dates follow UF/IFAS, which splits Florida into North, Central and South at State Road 40 and State Road 70.

Your First Twelve Weeks

One job a week. That is the whole thing.

You are not handed a library to read. You get one small job, on a real date, for your part of your state. Here is every week of it, including the weeks where there is nothing to do.

Week 1
Pick your spot and put seed in the ground.

We show you which corner of the yard gets enough sun and hand you the short list of things that come up fast where you live. You clear one small patch, you plant, you water. That is an afternoon. No tilling, no truckload of soil, no standing in a garden center trying to guess.

Weeks 2 and 3
Nothing. You water and you look.

This is the part nobody tells you about. There is no job in these two weeks. Things come up on their own and you walk out in the morning to see what moved. If you have been bracing for the hard part, this is what it looks like.

Week 4
You eat the first thing you grew.

The fast crops went in first on purpose, and they are picked for your region, not for a magazine. Inside a month you walk out the back door, pick something that was not there when you started, and it is on the table that night.

Weeks 5 to 7
The greens start coming in.

Mustard greens run 40 to 50 days and leaf lettuce is right behind them. You cut what you need for supper and the plant keeps making more. This is where the yard starts feeding you instead of you feeding it.

Weeks 8 to 11
The bigger crops fill in underneath.

Turnips and collards have been growing this whole time, underneath the food you were already eating. You did no extra work for this. It all went in back in week one, which is the entire point of doing it in this order.

Week 12
Supper comes off your own plate.

Everything green on the table came out of your yard. Twelve weeks, one job a week, and you are not finished. You are just done being a beginner.

Days to harvest come from the UF/IFAS Florida Vegetable Gardening Guide. Your dates shift a little depending on where you are in the state. The Plan gives you yours.

Who is teaching you

You have probably already watched us.

We have been doing this in public for years, for free, and people know us for telling the truth about what works down here and what does not. Nothing changes about that inside the membership. You just stop having to wait for a video to come out to get the answer.

100,000+growers across our two channels

Jermaine runs GrowFitFL. Toni runs RootedinJs. Two of the biggest gardening channels in Florida, and they are both ours.

4books in print between us

Three of mine and one of Toni's, on real shelves. Three of them ship to you the day you join for the year.

11years growing food in Florida sand

A family of six on a quarter acre, over 150 edible plants. Not a test plot. It is where our supper comes from.

The channels are where we teach everybody. The Plan is where we teach you. Members get the videos we make for them and nobody else, the 764 plant files, all 87 lessons, and Direct Member Messaging when you want our eyes on your own yard.

It is the closest you can get to us without us standing in your yard.

Every Plan

When something looks wrong, you get an answer the same day.

Four tools live in the Hub. Two of them do the heavy lifting.

Ask the Grow Guide

It's late, something in the bed doesn't look right, and there's nobody around to ask, so you type the question in and get back an answer built for your zone, your soil, and the plants you already put in the ground. Any hour. No forum.

It asks you questions back, the way a Southern grower would, until it knows enough to tell you something useful.

Plant Doctor

A leaf looks wrong and you can't name it, so you take a picture with your phone and it tells you what the plant is, what's going on with it, and what to do about it tonight. No googling. No guessing.

It keeps the history on that plant, so next season you can look back and see what happened and what fixed it.

Also in the Hub

Planting Calendar

You always know what can go in the ground this month, and you get a warning before a hard freeze, dangerous heat, or a severe storm reaches your part of the state.

Garden Tracker

Every area, every plant, and every harvest sits in one place, and the harvest log adds up what that food would have cost you at the store.

My 90 Days
  • Your plan, day by day, built from the plants you actually put in the ground
  • Dated for North, Central or South Florida, so the timing matches your yard
  • Miss a day and the work rolls forward instead of disappearing
Every Plan

It tells you what to do today.

Not a list of everything you could do. One day, the handful of jobs that matter, in the order they matter.

  • Open it with your coffee and the day is already laid out
  • Every task comes from your own plantings, not a generic checklist
  • Check a job off and it counts toward your ninety days

What a Tuesday looks like inside the Plan

Tea, movement, garden, and a lesson. Your whole day, in one place.

6:00 AM

Start your morning with a cup from the Apothecary, brewed from herbs you grow.

6:30 AM

Loosen up with today's Movement session, built for your level and your equipment.

8:00 AM

Mark this morning's garden watering done with one tap.

11:30 AM

Snap a photo of yellowing leaves at lunch, Plant Doctor returns a diagnosis before you finish eating.

4:00 PM

Check the weather alerts dashboard, no freeze, heat, or storm warnings for the next two weeks.

8:00 PM

Wind down with tonight's Masterclass lesson, mark it complete, and watch your GFC-1 progress ring tick up.

That is the entire interaction. Twelve minutes total. Every day the Plan gets smarter because you used it.

The math works in your favor

Here is what the Plan costs, and what a year on the right dates gives you.

What the Plan costs

The Grower's Year

Planting dates are live for Florida, South Carolina, Georgia and Louisiana, each from that state's own extension service. Alabama and North Carolina are being read now. We do not list a state until we hold its real dates.

$199 a year

That is about 55 cents a day.

One price, one plan. Every member gets every garden tool, the full 16 module Masterclass, and every seasonal challenge.

What a year of right dates gives you

  • Every planting window, hit: the collards go in the week they should, so you get the harvest instead of watching it pass
  • The right thing for the month you are in: you plant what actually grows in Southern heat and sand, not what a northern calendar told you to
  • Warning before a cold night: you hear about a freeze while there is still time to cover the young trees
  • Something to pick most months of the year: one season rolls into the next because the dates were set for down here

That is what the money buys. Not a library. A year where the timing is already decided for you, so the only thing left to do is go outside and grow the food.

Questions?

Pick your spot this weekend. Eat from your yard in twelve weeks.

Your family eats either way. The question is whether the food comes from a corporation that does not know your name, or from your own backyard. The Plan is how the second one becomes real.

The Grower's Year is $199 a year. Your first 7 days are free. A card is required to start, and if you cancel before day 7 you pay nothing. After that you have a 14 day money back guarantee. Every seasonal challenge is included.

Education and general wellness only, not medical advice. Growing your own food supports a healthy lifestyle. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
