GFC-1 Credential Standards

1. What the GFC-1 Credential Is

The GFC-1 Certified Grower credential ("GFC-1" or "the credential") is a private educational credential issued by GrowFitFL, LLC. It certifies that the holder has completed the GrowFitFL Club masterclass curriculum and shown sufficient understanding of Southern food forest growing practices as defined in this document.

The GFC-1 is:

• An educational credential that recognizes completion of a defined curriculum.
• Evidence of personal commitment to learning food forest and food production practices in the Southern United States.
• A mark of credibility within the GrowFitFL community.
• Publicly verifiable through the GFC-1 Public Registry at growfitfl.com/certified.

The GFC-1 is not:

• A government-issued license of any kind.
• A credential accredited by any external educational accreditation body.
• A professional certification regulated by a licensing board.
• A qualification to provide licensed professional services of any type.
• A guarantee of any specific gardening outcome or business result.

2. Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible to earn the GFC-1 credential, a candidate must:

• Hold an active GrowFitFL Club membership.
• Complete all required masterclass modules as defined in the current curriculum (a minimum of the 15 core modules, subject to updates).
• Pass the module knowledge assessment for each required module with a score of 80% or higher.
• Complete at least one practical application milestone documented in the Garden Tracker (e.g., a garden area established with a minimum of three planted species, or at least one harvest log entry).
• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Have an account in good standing with no outstanding violations of the Terms of Service or Acceptable Use Policy at the time of credential issuance.

3. Curriculum Requirements

The core GFC-1 curriculum covers the following subject areas. Specific lesson titles and content within each area may be updated from time to time:

• Southern climate zones, frost dates, and seasonal planning.
• Soil science fundamentals for Southern growing conditions.
• Food forest design principles and layered system architecture.
• Perennial crop selection for Southern zones 8 through 11.
• Annuals integration and succession planting.
• Water management, irrigation, and drought resilience.
• Natural pest and disease management.
• Composting and soil building.
• Harvest, preservation, and food processing basics.
• Garden economics: tracking production value and planning toward food security.

4. Issuance Process

When a member becomes eligible for the credential based on the automated completion tracking system, they will receive a notification in the home screen. Before the credential is issued, the member must:

• Review and accept the GFC-1 Code of Conduct.
• Confirm their understanding of the credential's scope and limitations.
• Choose their preferred public registry name (full legal name or chosen public name) and whether to include city and state.
• Opt in or out of the public registry listing. Opting out means the credential exists and is verifiable by number but the holder does not appear in search results.

Upon completion of the acceptance screen, GrowFitFL will generate the credential with a unique credential number in the format GFC1-YYYY-NNNN and issue the downloadable digital certificate.

5. Credential Duration and Maintenance

The GFC-1 credential does not expire on a fixed schedule. However, an active membership is required to maintain the credential in good standing. If a membership lapses:

• The credential remains valid and verifiable for one year after membership lapses.
• After one year without an active membership, the credential is marked "Lapsed" in the public registry but is not revoked. The holder retains the credential record.
• Re-activation of membership reinstates the credential to "Active" status immediately.

GrowFitFL reserves the right to introduce credential maintenance requirements in the future. Any new requirements will be communicated to existing holders at least 90 days before they take effect.

6. Revocation

GrowFitFL may revoke the GFC-1 credential if a holder:

• Materially misrepresents the credential's nature or scope in a way that misleads or harms others.
• Violates the GFC-1 Code of Conduct in a material way following a written warning and opportunity to cure.
• Engages in conduct that brings the credential or GrowFitFL into disrepute.
• Has their membership terminated for a material violation of the Terms of Service or Acceptable Use Policy.

Revocation is preceded by written notice and an opportunity to respond except in cases of serious misconduct requiring immediate action. Revoked credentials are removed from the public registry but the revocation is noted in GrowFitFL's internal records.

7. Standards Updates

GrowFitFL may update these Standards from time to time to reflect curriculum additions, quality improvements, or changes in the credential program. Existing holders will not lose their credential based solely on curriculum updates unless GrowFitFL introduces a bridge requirement with at least 90 days notice. The "Published" date at the top of this document reflects the most recent version.
